The Downtown Kitchener (BIA) is a not for profit organization guided by a volunteer Board of Directors established for the main purpose of revitalizing the Central Business District of the City of Kitchener.  We are desginated as a Business Improvement Area (BIA) through the Ontario Municipal Act and a City of Kitchener by-law enacted in 1977.  The DKBIA is one of the more active BIA's in the province of Ontario and has initiated and participated in many new revitalization initiatives.  The role of a BIA has changed over the years since its creation in the Municipal Act and the Downtown Kitchener BIA has been a leader in developing some of those changes.
