Downtown Kitchener Ambassador Project

2010 Award Winner at the OBIAA Awards Ceremony!


You will find Kitchener Downtown Ambassadors providing assistance throughout the downtown core from May to August. These ambassadors help create a friendly, helpful and safe downtown environment.

Ambassadors, hired by and reporting through the Downtown Kitchener BIA (Business Improvement Area), are trained to provide assistance and information to visitors, workers, residents and businesses throughout downtown. In addition, Ambassadors are the supplemental eyes and ears of the business community and our law enforcement agencies.

The Downtown Ambassadors services include:

  • Provide service in warm weather months (May to August).
  • Promote downtown activities, events, businesses.
  • Respond to inquiries on events, businesses, services.
  • Support outreach workers in downtown area as needed.
  • Provide guided tours for groups visiting downtown such as students, new hires in downtown businesses.
  • Monitor and report to by law, security or police any negative activities as required.
  • Provide friendly, approachable and knowledgeable service at all times.

The DKBIA Ambassador program  won an award at the OBIAA Annual Awards Ceremony 2010.
