Weekly Update – Reconstructing King Street

 

Road resurfacing on King Street – The final paving of King Street is expected to be complete Thursday and Friday (weather permitting).  Pavement markings will be completed Monday morning and the road will be reopened afterwards.

 

Storm water planters – Planting will be completed next week and the granite cladding and additional lighting features on the planers will be installed afterwards. 

 

Stage 1 – King Street from Gaukel to Ontario

 

  • Crews will install the street furniture; benches and bike racks. 

 

Stage 2 – King Street from Ontario to Queen

 

  • Crews will install the street furniture; benches and bike racks.
  • Bollards have been installed, after the final paving on street parking will be permitted.

 

Stage 3 – King Street from Queen to Frederick

 

Application of sealant – The sealant will be applied to block 3 after Oktoberfest.  Therefore, there will be no on street parking within this block until the sealant is applied.

 

Speakers Corner & Hall’s Lane

  • Work has begun on the public art feature and will continue over the course of the next two weeks.
  • Hall’s Lane will remain closed, as it has since construction on the parking garage began.  There will be no through traffic for vehicular or pedestrian access at Benton Street (fire and delivery access only).

 Pedestrian walkways and access

  • There will be no more construction fencing or mid-block crossings after crews complete the final paving of King Street.

 

Waste disposal - The waste containers that have been used throughout construction (see locations below) will be removed by the end of next week, October 2nd.

  • Ontario Street (south side)
  • Goudies Lane, at the entrance to the parking lot.
  • Queen and King intersection on the sidewalk
